When it comes to living more sustainably it helps to focus on small changes to your everyday habits instead of trying to change everything all at once. For some people it may also help to focus on one area of your home at a time to start becoming more sustainable.

When looking around your kitchen here are 3 sustainable products to incorporate into your lifestyle.

1.     Swedish Dishcloths

You may have heard of Swedish Dishcloths, they recently have gained more exposure on social media, and rightfully so. Swedish dishcloths are amazing. They can hold multiple functions in your kitchen from a dishcloth you wash dishes with, a cloth you wipe down your kitchen with, or a cloth you clean up your worst spills and grim with.

These little clothes are up to task. Once dirty simply wash with water and ring out. If they become too messy simply pop in the washing machine. Over time they will begin to fall apart and once you’re ready to get a new one you can compost your old one.

Swedish dishcloths are more regularly being offered in stores and they come in many different colors and fun patterns. You can get them at grove.co or on Amazon.

2.     Unpaper Towels

Unpaper towels or reusable paper towels as they’re sometimes called are simply small fabric towels that can be washed over and over again. So instead of using a roll of paper towels which end up being thrown in the trash, you can reuse these unpaper towels many times, reducing your kitchen waste.

We have actually talked about the benefits of unpaper towels in the past and the ways that they can save you money in our blog post titled 3 Ways To Not Break The Bank and Stay On Budget While Being Sustainable

We have had our roll of unpaper towels for almost two years now and while their color has faded a little they still work great. We got our roll from grove.co but you can also find them on Amazon.

3.     100% Recycled Plastic Trash Bags

As an American it can be unbelievably difficult to not generate trash. While you may recycle and compost as much as possible, trash is in many ways inevitable. Even though trash is considered very unsustainable, there are ways to help make it more sustainable.

I have been loving these 100% recycled plastic trash bags from Grove.co. These trash bags have a drawstring close which I’m a fan of and they’re helping recycle plastic. Instead of buying trash bags made from new plastics these bags are taking already made plastic and recycling it into trash bags.

Grove has a few different types of trash bags from size and closure type. If you’re interested in trying out Grove be sure to use our link because it will give you a free gift set with your first purchase!

While dishcloths, paper towels, and trash bags may seem like a small thing, the environmental impact they have truly does add up over time. Think about how many trash bags you have used in your lifetime, the insane number of paper towels you used to wipe away spills, and the number of dishcloths or sponges you have thrown in the trash.

When it comes to helping reduce the negative impact we are making on the planet it will take all of us doing every little bit that we can. This will come down to the simple exchanges we make in our kitchen, our bathrooms, and our homes.
