By now you have probably already heard of and seen ads about Prime Day, one of Amazon’s biggest annual sales events. In 2022 over 300 million items were sold during Prime Day (1). That is an unbelievably large number! So if you are planning on partaking in this year’s Prime Day event here are a few ways on how you can shop sustainably.

1.Shop Sustainable Brands

Finding eco-friendly and sustainable brands on Amazon can be difficult. Usually this will entail having to look into the company, try and find their sustainability practices, and assess their overall positive environmental impact; all of which can be time consuming.

However, as someone who has and will continue to look for companies and brands that are more eco-friendly and sustainable than others, it is doable.

As our blog continues to grow I will begin to post about brands and companies that promote sustainable practices to hopefully help reduce the burdensome effort of finding these companies for you!

In this spirit, here are a few brands I have been loving recently:

2. Shop Sustainable Alternatives

It can be difficult to know how sustainable a brand is and what their sustainable practices are. When you don’t know a company’s sustainability practices but are given the option to purchase a single use product or a reusable product, for example, go for the reusable product.

A few sustainable products I really like are:

3. Ask for Fewer Boxes

When making a purchase on Amazon you usually will be presented with a few shipping options. One option that is usually offered is “comes in fewer boxes”.

When you select this option, Amazon will hold your order from leaving its facility until all of your items can be packaged into fewer boxes than if they were shipped out separately.

This is a relatively new feature so as you start noticing this option and using it be sure to let me know if you have success!

While these sustainable shopping ideas may seem minor in the grand scheme of things, they are a step towards shopping more sustainably on Prime Day. As always the goal is to be a more mindful environmentalist. Small steps can lead to larger changes!
